Gluing and lamination bond the layers that make a modern mattress: foam to foam, foam to a quilted panel, edge foam to a core, and cover components to their backing. In a foam or hybrid build it is a structural step, not a finishing touch, because the bond line is what keeps layers from shifting and delaminating over years of use.
The equipment ranges from spray and roll coat adhesive stations to automated lamination lines that meter adhesive, press layers, and index the assembly forward. Web spray systems lay an even adhesive film across a full panel; targeted applicators glue only where a bond is needed, which saves adhesive and cuts cure and off gassing. Water based and hot melt systems each carry their own handling, ventilation, and cure characteristics.
